All Chelsea wants is to be an average teenager, but she finds herself consistently embarrassed and isolated by her family’s quirks. Chelsea’s brother makes a habit of invading her space, her stepdad is always leaving fake severed heads lying around (he directs low-budget indie horror films), and her mom is not so normal either. Chelsea forms a bond with her out-and-proud classmate Danielle, who was kicked out of the house by her intolerant parents but thinks Chelsea’s family is cool. As a result, our protagonist may need to change her stubborn views on what she thinks “normal” should be.
