Surpassing bourgeois drag and classic female impersonation, this lavish spectacle tells the history of two European nightclub megastars who grow together and eventually apart. The Moroccan-German Mourad (Cybersissy), “the smallest drag queen in the world,” and the Dutch Antoine (BayBjane), who has a dark psychiatric and family history, flit and frolic with jovial abandon, often surrounded by sexy shirtless men. Documentary footage is interwoven with lush fantasy sequences, celebrating the pair’s unique friendship and their unlikely success. Is it performance art? Even they’re not sure, but both audience and performers can agree, it’s extravagantly fun.
