Bijou

This event has passed.
Wakefield Poole’s 1971 film BOYS IN THE SAND was the first sexually explicit gay film to be advertised in the New York Times and became a huge worldwide hit. BIJOU, the follow-up from this widely acknowledged “godfather of gay porn,” is a visually breathtaking psychedelic odyssey, remarkable for its innovative visual style, otherworldly set pieces, shadowy logic, and the hard-to-believe-it’s-real endowment of star Bill Harrison. Previously only available on muddy transfers made from defective 16mm negatives, BIJOU has been beautifully remastered by Gorilla Factory Productions yet is rarely screened. Prepare yourself for a trippy, explicit adventure back in time and beyond reality. Also playing at the festival: Jim Tushinski’s documentary I ALWAYS SAID YES: THE MANY LIVES OF WAKEFIELD POOLE.
