Wakefield Poole, an accomplished Broadway dancer and choreographer, created lushly erotic films that scandalized and challenged mainstream 1970s culture. Risking prosecution under US pornography laws in 1971, Poole released BOYS IN THE SAND, boldly buying ad space in the New York Times to promote it. This revealing documentary tells the story of this sometimes overlooked pioneer in gay liberation and independent filmmaking.
